Once again, Republicans prove they’re better than Democrats at handling money.
The Republican National Committee is on a path to close 2017 with $130 million raised, Washington Times reports. Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel will set a new record for fundraising in an off-year election cycle.
McDaniel has made fundraising a top priority. “It’s a rewarding, though sometimes grueling job,” she said, “but fighting for a party and president I believe in makes it all worthwhile.”
According to the latest filing, the RNC has already raised $120 million this year. President Trump’s popularity among the party base has been a major factor, with many donations being small-dollar amounts directed to the Commander-in-Chief.
McDaniel has also played a significant role in growing the party’s funds. In 2017, the chairwoman kept close contact with donors and logged 80,000 miles for fundraising activities, a Republican insider said.
One of the biggest areas of focus for McDaniel has been expanding digital fundraising, which she has done by adding over 1 million email addresses to the GOP database in the final months.
Party strategists predict McDaniel will double the small dollar database responsible for raising $250 million for President Trump in 2016.
“A huge reason why Ronna’s been a strong leader is because she never loses sight of what we are trying to accomplish,” said Elliot Broidy, RNC deputy national chairman. “She promotes the president, she pushes our conservative agenda and she keeps the pillars of the Republican Party at the forefront at all times.”
On the national level, Republicans are far outpacing Democrats. The Democratic National Committee raised over $60 million this year–and is still $2.6 million in debt.
Democrats have blamed the financial lag on alleged mismanagement by former DNC chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL).
Democrats are doing better on the congressional level. The Democratic National Campaign Committee raised $7 million in November, compared to the $3.8 million raised by its GOP counterpart, the National Republican Congressional Committee.

If Democrats want to catch up on the national level, they would do well to take a page out of the conservative handbook and learn about fiscal responsibility.
