Israel says more than 10 countries in talks to move embassies to Jerusalem thanks to Trump’s leadership

A number of countries are considering following President Donald Trump’s lead and relocating their embassies to Jerusalem.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said the Foreign Ministry is engaged in talks with more than 10 countries, Israel Hayom reported.

Hotovely said Monday “there are countries on all the continents” that have expressed interest in recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving their embassies from Tel Aviv.

“I can only say that there are more than 10 countries,” she told Israel Radio. “We, at the Foreign Ministry, are working intelligently with each one.”

Some European countries are said to be included.

“There are plenty more countries in the works,” Hotovely added. “I know this because the Foreign Ministry is currently in the middle of important and meaningful efforts with these countries, some of which are European.”

Following Trump’s decision, Guatemala was the first country to announce that it too would relocate its embassy to Jerusalem.

And Hotovely expects more to follow suit, saying “the U.S. is the trigger that is setting everything into motion.”

“Trump’s announcement will generate momentum,” she insisted. “Right now we are seeing the first harbingers, but there is no doubt that there is a strong current here and that this is a historic diplomatic achievement in the making.”

And right on cue, Honduras and Panama reportedly told the Palestinian Authority that they planned to relocate their embassies, according to Israel Hayom.
