Trump lawyer Ty Cobb said the president has no intention of firing Robert Mueller even as bombshell reports decimate the Special Counsel’s credibility.
“As the White House has repeatedly and emphatically said for months, there is no consideration at the White House of terminating the special counsel,” Cobb told the Hill.
President Trump also denied he plans to fire Mueller. No, I’m not,” he told reporters Sunday after returning from a weekend at Camp David.
Speculation is mounting that Trump may fire Mueller amid a series of damning revelations suggesting his team cannot be impartial because it’s stacked with Democratic donors who hate Trump.
Democratic Congresswoman Jackie Speier from California said she heard a “rumor” that Trump could fire Mueller this week. (When she’s proven wrong, let’s see if she cops to promoting “fake news.”)
“The rumor on the Hill…was that the president was going to make a significant speech at the end of next week. And on December 22, when we are out of D.C., he was going to fire Robert Mueller,” Speier told KQED.

At this point, it’s unclear why Trump would want to fire Mueller since his team’s credibility has been shredded beyond redemption. Moreover, the Mueller investigation has produced no evidence so far that the Trump campaign “colluded” with Russia despite a year-long probe.
Liberal Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz — a Hillary Clinton supporter — concluded that Mueller’s team “has nothing” on Trump after weighing the non-evidence.
Dershowitz also said Trump has the right to fire Mueller and shut down the investigation if he wants to. But he shouldn’t because it looks bad.
Still, Dershowitz said Robert Mueller’s team has a massive credibility problem that even liberals cannot deny.
“It’s a very serious problem,” Dershowitz told Fox News. “It’s a problem not only of perception of bias, but the reality of bias.”
