Truth comes out: Secret Service debunks CNN analyst’s ‘fake news’ Omarosa was dragged off White House grounds

The Trump administration is at a seemingly never-ending war with “fake news.”

On Wednesday, reports surfaced that White House aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman had resigned from her role as  director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison.

Shortly after the news broke, White House correspondent and CNN analyst April Ryan claimed Manigault-Newman’s departure was a dramatic one marked by cursing.

On Wednesday evening, however, the Secret Service on Twitter dismissed claims that its personnel removed Manigault-Newman from the White House.

The Secret Service clarified that its “only involvement in this matter was to deactivate the individual’s pass which grants access to the complex.”

Ryan’s account of Manigault-Newman’s alleged removal from the White House came after the two women had a highly-publicized dispute earlier this year.

In February, Ryan claimed she was “physically intimidated” by the Trump aide outside the Oval Office.

“She stood right up in my face like she was going to hit me,” Ryan told the Washington Post. “I said, ‘You better back up.'”

But Ryan’s description of the encounter was found to be misleading when Manigault-Newman revealed the conversation had been recorded.

“I didn’t know she was taping it,” Ryan said of the recording. “This is about her trying to smear my name. This is freaking Nixonian.”

Manigault-Newman’s departure garnered considerable attention for a relatively minor administration position due to her high-profile and history with President Trump.

She rose to fame with her popular role as a contestant on the Trump reality series “The Apprentice.”

Although Manigault-Newman was one of many contestants who were famously “fired” on the program, she maintained a friendship with the President through the years and played an active role in his presidential campaign.

Manigault-Newman’s did not comment on her resignation. The White House said she will leave “to pursue other opportunities.”

The departure was partly prompted by differences with Chief of Staff John Kelly, AP reports.

Kelly, a retired Marine Corps. general, reportedly made it his goal to tighten up operations in the White House by eliminating unnecessary positions. Sources said Manigault-Newman drew Kelly’s ire by going around him to communicate directly with the President.

The former “Apprentice” contestant held a bridal party in the White House this past spring for a photo shoot in the Rose Garden, but was banned from posting the photos online for security concerns.

In August, Manigault-Newman clashed with journalist Ed Gordon at the National Association of Black Journalists’ convention in New Orleans over the issue of policing in black communities.

President Trump thanked Manigault-Newman for her service and wished her well.

Manigault-Newman’s resignation will be officially be effective January 20, but Tuesday was reportedly her last day.
