Gun owners may soon find it easier to carry concealed weapons across state lines if Republicans have their way.
A bill easing gun restrictions is being considered by the Republican led House of Representatives, allowing those with state-issued concealed-carry permits to easily cross into any other states that allow the same, WALB News reported.
Consideration of the bill marks the first gun legislation in Congress following the mass shootings in Nevada and Texas.
While Republicans feel the bill would clear problems encountered by conflicting state laws or civil suits, Democrats slammed the measure as an example of the GOP doing the bidding of the National Rifle Association.

Republicans were “brazenly moving to hand the NRA the biggest item on its Christmas wish list,” House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said, according to WALB.
More from WALB News:
Republicans in the Judiciary Committee combined a bill on background checks with the concealed-carry permits measure, a fact Democrats called unfortunate.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York, the senior Democrat on the Judiciary panel, said it was a cynical maneuver designed to force Democrats to vote against the background check measure.
Nadler and other Democrats say the concealed-carry bill would force those who in live in states with strong gun laws to abide by states with the weakest and most dangerous concealed-carry laws.
Pelosi argued that the bill is the latest “but certainly not the last Republican attempt to wipe out common-sense” gun laws.
The House is expected to act on the measure Wednesday as the Senate Judiciary Committee holds a hearing on a provision to strengthen the FBI database of prohibited gun buyers. This comes after the failure of the Air Force to report the criminal history of the gunman who killed more than two dozen people at a Texas church last month.
Meanwhile, social media users were more than clear where they stood on the issue and on the rhetoric.
This is rich coming from a woman whose state won’t convict an illegal alien who murdered one of our citizens. It’s long past time for you to go, old lady. #JusticeForKate

So it’s ok for a several time deported undocumented alien to posses a stolen gun and shoot and kill an innocent woman but not OK for Americans who have already went through the FBI Background Check in their home state to carry a weapon for protection? Kinda hypocritical U think

Remember, it was San Francisco’s “sanctuary city” policy that released a 7-time felon, 5-time deported illegal alien with an ICE detainer order back on the streets.
I’m more afraid of San Francisco’s gov’t policies than I am of legal concealed carry permit holders.

Do you know when you might be assaulted or robbed and do you know if an officer can get there quick enough? I don’t and neither does anyone else. I’d rather greet a bad guy with a gun with more than my charm. I’ll be a fighting victim before just a victim any day. Good day

ROTFL. You’re perfectly content letting illegal immigrants, some with criminal pasts, cross our borders with impunity via CA’s sanctuary state policy.
Why then are you afraid of someone whose background has been vetted by another government entity?

Law abiding citizens with CC permits don’t commit these crimes. On the contrary they protect against those who do commit these crimes.
