‘Your DNA is an abomination’: Student newspaper publishes racy column calling for ‘white death’

Liberals claim they’re the “anti-racist” side. Then they go and do something like this.

The University Star, the student newspaper for Texas State, provoked enormous backlash for running an anti-white column titled “Your DNA is an abomination.”

The column, submitted by philosophy major Rudy Martinez, features a drawing that includes the words “White is Over! If you want it.”

The piece makes the case that whites are inherently evil and oppressive, and should therefore not exist.

“When I think of all the white people I have ever encountered – whether they’ve been professors, peers, lovers, friends, police officers, et cetera – there is perhaps only a dozen I would consider decent,'” Martinez begins.

The article then argues that “Whiteness will be over because we want it to be. And when it dies, there will be millions of cultural zombies aimlessly wandering across a vastly changed landscape.”

In another passage, Martinez claims whiteness is “a construct used to perpetuate a system of racist power” and that “white death will mean liberation for all.”

He directly tells whites they aren’t worthy of life.

“Until then, remember this: I hate you because you shouldn’t exist. You are both the dominant apparatus on the planet and the void in which all other cultures, upon meeting you, die.”

The article sparked an immediate and vehement reaction.

Andrew Homann, chief of staff at the Texas Federation of College Republicans and a former Texas State student body president, blasted the University Star for running the racist column.

Homann censured the paper, warning that “No one is going to take this paper seriously if the editorial board continues to allow baseless garbage to be published week in and week out.”

Many others took to social media to speak out against the article.

The response was so strong that Editor-in-Chief Denise Cervantes issued a statement apologizing for the offensive article.

The editor’s note read:

“In the Nov. 28 issue of The University Star, we published an opinions column titled “Your DNA is an abomination.” The column has received widespread criticism from readers, with many expressing that they find the author’s ideas to be racist. The University Star’s opinion pages are a forum for students to express and debate ideas. While our publication does not endorse every opinion put forth by student columnists or guest contributors, as the editor I take responsibility for what is printed on our pages.

The original intent of the column was to comment on the idea of race and racial identities. We acknowledge that the column could have been clearer in its message and that it has caused hurt within our campus community. We apologize and hope that we can move forward to a place of productive dialogue on ways to bring our community together.”

But not everyone accepted the apology.

A lesson to the young staff of the University Star: being a social justice warrior doesn’t pay.
