Law-abiding Costco shopper shoots dead a crazy man with a gun, preventing a really black Friday

Score another win for the Second Amendment. Here’s a bit of news you wont hear about on CNN.

Shoppers at a Costco outside of Kansas City owe their lives to an off-duty police officer.

An unidentified man wielding a firearm walked into the Lenexa, Kansas store shortly after 11am on Sunday,  Fox 4 Kansas City reported.

Ryan Vacca, an employee at the Costco photo center and an eye-witness to the incident, said the assailant entered the store suddenly.

“I was looking at the computer screen, and then I heard some commotion happening around me,” he told Fox4. “I turned and looked at the front door and saw a guy walking in – just kind of yelling and screaming”

Vacca went on to say “one of my co-workers told me to drop, and I did.”

Many of the people shopping inside the Costco rushed to the exits at the sight of danger. But one man did the opposite.

According to witnesses, the officer jumped in to engage the armed man.

“He was just shopping,” Captain Wade Borchers said of the off-duty cop. “And he happened to be there while all this occurred. And you know, thankfully, he was.”

One woman at the scene, who identified herself as Nikki Lotia, described the fear that gripped her when she heard shots being fired.

“My phone says I called 911 around 11:11. And I could hear the guy (on the phone) asking, ‘what’s your emergency?’ And I was so scared and shaking. I didn’t want to say anything loud, so I just kind of whispered, ‘shooting, you know, Costco. …

“And soon, I heard four shots, you know? Like, I heard, duh-duh-duh-duh-duh. And I thought, ‘oh my God.’ And I just kept there, and started praying.”

The officer killed the assailant, ending the threat to a multitude of shoppers at the store. Some people had to be treated for panic, but there were no other injuries.

Lotia shared that she was grateful the off-duty cop was there to contain the situation.

The mainstream media may not give this story much coverage, but it goes to show that law-abiding Americans are safer when a good guy with a gun is close-at-hand.
