It’s not often that a company will ask consumers NOT to buy their product, but that is just what Papa John’s, the official pizza company of the NFL, did after learning white nationalists declared them the “official pizza of the alt-right.”
CEO John Schnatter ripped NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell last week for his “poor leadership” while announcing that the company was pulling its ads from NFL games in response to players protesting the national anthem, saying that being associated with the show of disrespect was hurting sales.
Some claim that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who owns more than 100 Papa John’s franchise stores and has taken a hard-line stance against the protests, saying he will sit any players who participates, was behind Schnatter’s decision.

The neo-Nazi website Daily Stormer, which sees the NFL protests as part of an “anti-white agenda,” responded to Schnatter by declaring Papa John’s the pizza of choice for white supremacists.
A photo of a pizza with a swastika made of pepperoni was included, as seen below:

But Peter Collins, Papa John’s senior director of public relations, said the pizza maker wants nothing whatsoever to do with that endorsement.
“We condemn racism in all forms and any and all hate groups that support it. We do not want these individuals or groups to buy our pizza,” Collins told the Louisville Courier Journal.
Can’t get any clearer than that, but in today’s “fake news” era, liberals who support millionaire athletes dissing America pounced on the chance to ridicule Papa John’s for becoming a leading voice against the disrespect.
All of which suggests ordering Papa John’s for dinner this week may be just the thing to do.
