Sarah Sanders dismisses renewed sexual assault claims against President Trump as ‘fake news’

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders stood by her previous claims that the women who accused President Trump of sexual harassment shortly before the election weren’t telling the truth.

“We’ve been clear on that in the beginning, and the President’s spoken on that,” Sanders told a reporter who asked if the White House thought the accusers “are lying.”

Shortly before the November 2016 presidential election, more than a dozen women came forward to accuse then-candidate Donald Trump of sexually harassing them. Right after the election, the accusers mysteriously disappeared.

They have now resurfaced in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal that has rocked Hollywood. So far, 60 women allege Weinstein sexually abused them. Five have accused the film mogul of rape.

When asked about the renewed harassment accusations against him, President Trump dismissed the claims as “fake news.” “All I can say is it’s totally fake news, just fake,” Trump said on October 16. “It’s made-up stuff. And it’s disgraceful what happens.”

Former Never Trumper Mitt Romney wants to run for Utah Senate if Orrin Hatch retires

The renewed allegations against Trump came just as former president George H. W. Bush was accused of sexual harassment by three different women.

In a stunning acknowledgment, Bush apologized for his behavior through a statement by a rep.

“At age 93, President Bush has been confined to a wheelchair for roughly five years, so his arm falls on the lower waist of people with whom he takes pictures,” read the statement. “To try to put people at ease, the president routinely tells the same joke — and on occasion, he has patted women’s rears in what he intended to be a good-natured manner. Some have seen it as innocent; others clearly view it as inappropriate. To anyone he has offended, President Bush apologizes most sincerely.”

Karma! Another Trump-hating liberal Hollywood exec fired for sexual harassment

As for President Trump, he has repeatedly denied the allegations against him — both before the election, and since.
