For a show that prides itself on being a feminist wonderland, ABC’s “The View” insulted a lot of women last week.
During Friday’s broadcast of the daytime talk show, host Whoopi Goldberg spoke about an interview Hillary Clinton did with NPR where she said that Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg told her that there would be women who would vote against her because of pressure from their husbands.
“I think there is a point to that. It’s not just that women hate other women,” co-host Joy Behar mused. “I think that women vote in their interest, economic interest, just like the men do. So if the men have jobs and they say to their wives, this is just one example, ‘We’re going to get a tax break from the Republicans,’ and that will make the family have more money, the wife will go along with it.”
She said she believed that “the men are making more money than the women” while sitting at the host table with women who likely all make more money than their male counterparts.
The female host panel could not seem to wrap their minds around the idea that women don’t have to vote for another woman simply because she is a woman.
Sara Haines suggested that women judge other women more harshly.
Goldberg suggested that many women were born and raised in a time where men made all the decisions and they have not broken from that.
Sunny Hostin chose to take it a step further and make it a racial issue.
“What I still can’t understand is why 53 percent of white women voted for (President) Trump,” she said.
But Paula Farris pulled quote from Clinton’s interview and said it could be seen as sexist against women.
“All of the sudden, the husband turns to the wife, ‘I told you she was going to be in jail. You don’t want to waste your vote.’ Or the boyfriend turns to the girlfriend, ‘She’s gonna get locked up,’” Faris said, reading Clinton’s quotes.
“It’s basically insinuating that I can’t think independently of my husband,” Faris told the panel. “I think that is going to be offensive for a lot of people to hear.”
And she was correct.

Many women took to social media to express their outrage over the panel’s patronizing comments.
my husband voted for Johnson i voted for Hillary. Women are fully capable to think independently.

Hahahaha convince yourselves of that. I waited for 12 years for @POTUS to run for President. I certainly was NOT pressured by anyone.

It’s funny to hear Whoopi defending Hillary’s remarks. If it had been a Republican woman saying that she would have been all over her
