Not only have President Trump’s supporters stuck by him in the wake of backlash over his response to the violence in Charlottesville, conservatives in Hollywood have continued to back him as well.
Though not many are willing to go on the record with their support.
Actor Scott Baio, however, has no intention of keeping his pro-Trump views quiet.

“I don’t give a sh** about Hollywood liberals,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “They’re gonna hate the guy no matter what. If he cured cancer, they’d be on him for putting oncologists out of business.”
An outspoken supporter of the president who spoke during the campaign at the Republican National Convention, Baio said those in his circle of friends hold the same opinion and are even more supportive of Trump since the increase of attacks from the left.
“All this does is help Trump because people have had it. Conservatives in Hollywood have had it,” he said. “We know who Trump is, and we don’t believe the propaganda, and I don’t think most of the country does, either. The media is almost irrelevant. It’s predictable and boring. I want the man to get his agenda through, and everything else is a sideshow.”
Judging from mainstream media, late night show hosts and Hollywood celebrities, Trump would appear to have crossed the line of no return for saying – or not saying – the right thing following the violent Virginia rally that left a woman dead after an alleged white supremacist drove his car into a crowd of counter-protesters.
Trump was attacked for condemning “both sides” for the violence, and many conservatives in Hollywood went into virtual hiding.
“Don’t believe it? Try wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ baseball cap on a film shoot,” one industry insider told the Hollywood Reporter.
Speaking to members of a private group made up of conservatives working in Hollywood, the publication found that 90 percent did not want to speak on the record about their support for Trump.

“Too hot. No way,” one filmmaker said. “No upside,” said another.
“Are you trying to get me killed?” asked one actor while another responded, “I’m staying away from politics for the foreseeable future.”
Veteran actor James Woods, an outspoken conservative voice in Hollywood, admitted in a tweet Tuesday that he has no problem expressing his views anymore because he has “accepted the fact that I’m blacklisted.”
Absolutely. The only reason I express my views is that I have accepted the fact that I’m blacklisted. Also I bought Apple stock in the 80’s https://t.co/mNGNhRmx9d

Actor Nick Searcy criticized many of his left-leaning colleagues for twisting the president’s words about Charlottesville to suit their narrative.
“Trump didn’t say some nice people were Nazis; he said there are some nice people who don’t want monuments torn down. This movement to erase the history of the Democrats’ support for the Confederacy and the KKK is ridiculous,” he said, adding that he knows how the president feels since he has often had his own words taken out of context.
“I’ll say the communist ‘Antifa’ is bad, and they’ll twist it to say, ‘Nick Searcy defended Nazis.’ They’re so self-righteous,” he said. “It’s not that they disagree, it’s that they’re better people. They’re not better than me because they voted for Hillary Clinton.”
Hollywood conservatives seem to agree that the more hysterical the left becomes, the more support for Trump increases.
“It has grown as the unhinged nature of the left has become desperate and hysterical,” Evan Sayet, a former writer on “Politically Incorrect” who has helped write speeches for Trump, told the Hollywood Reporter. “Compare the media coverage of Charlottesville to when President Obama failed to condemn terrorists. I even remember Obama trying to cover up for Islamic terror by dubbing the murders in Ft. Hood nothing more than ‘workplace violence.'”
“Hollywood conservatives are very hesitant to speak out in support of Trump because they fear that they will never work again,” actress and Trump delegate at the Republican convention, Mell Flynn, said. “There’s a lot of truth to that.”
And while many worry about being eliminated from work because of their political stance, Baio’s priorities are simple and clear.
“I don’t give a sh** if I ever work again,” he said. “My country comes first. I guess I’m just an old, angry, successful white guy who stole everything he has from someone else.”
