Huckabee defends Trump’s statement : They want him to jump to conclusions like Obama did

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee smacked down “Trump haters” who trashed the president’s remarks condemning the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Huckabee blasted the left’s knee-jerk condemnation of Trump’s comments, which he made before James Fields Jr. was identified as the driver of the car that plowed into a crowd and killed one person.

“I don’t know what they expect the president to do,” Huckabee told Fox News anchor Judge Jeanine Pirro (see video starting at 2:10). “At the time that he made the comment, the driver of the car had not even been identified.”

Leftists were furious that President Trump did not immediately condemn James Fields, the deranged 20-year-old driver.

Huckabee asked if liberals would’ve been happier if Trump had jumped to conclusions before making a statement, the way former president Barack Obama did when he immediately blamed police brutality for the 2014 shooting death of black youth Michael Brown.

Obama’s Department of Justice (whose head was black US Attorney General Eric Holder) later cleared white police officer Darren Wilson of any wrongdoing.

“Is Trump supposed to do what Barack Obama used to do and jump to conclusions and make a decision like he did in Ferguson, Missouri, which turned out to be totally untrue?” Huckabee asked. “The president has to be careful in taking steps.”

Huckabee, who condemned neo-Nazis and the white supremacist movement, said Trump haters look for any minuscule reason to criticize him. And their partisan hatred is pathetic and unreasonable.

“He condemned what we all could immediately condemn — and that was the violence — some coward in a car drove into innocent people to try and kill them,” Huckabee said. “And he condemned that! What else is he supposed to do at that point?”
