The Russian oligarch who was named as allegedly having information on Hillary Clinton to pass on to Donald Trump Jr. is waving the “fake news” banner.
The Russian-Azerbaijani real estate magnate claimed the emails published by Trump Jr. revealing his role are fabricated, according to the Daily Mail.

“I think it’s some kind of fiction,” Aras Agalarov told Russian radio station BFM when asked if he had seen the letter posted by Trump Jr.
“I do not know who is making this up. What does this have to do with Hillary Clinton? I don’t know,” he said.

President Trump’s son released the emails Wednesday, revealing correspondence he had with Rob Goldstone, the British publicist and manager of Agalarov’s son, pop singer Emin Agalarov. But the 61 year-old real estate developer appeared to distance himself from those involved as he spoke from Moscow for the first time since the release of the emails.
“It is Emin who is acquainted with him [Trump Jr.], I’m not,” he told BFM. “We held Miss Universe together and then there were these contacts. They are about the same age, so how do I know in which way they communicated? Well they did communicate about something, but I do not know (what).”
Agalarov met President Trump back in 2012 at the Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas and the two worked together to bring the event to Moscow the following year. He was also working on a Trump Tower Moscow project which was halted when Trump announced his campaign for president.

The oligrach pushed back on knowing Goldstone very well when speaking with BFM.

“I really do not know Rob Goldstone well. He worked with Emin for some time as a manager, probably, or promoted something in America, I do not know,” he said. “In general, he worked. They communicated together.”

Both the senior Agalarov and his son retained New York attorney Scott Balber, who had previously represented Donald Trump in a case against Bill Maher. In a heated exchange with CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday, Balber denied his clients knew anything about Goldstone’s actions or intentions when he allegedly contacted Trump Jr.
The Agalarovs are now reportedly trying to unload property owned in New Jersey, listing their multi-million dollar homes for sale last month below the figure they paid for the mansions.

The Russian property tycoon listed the seven-bedroom mansion bought in 2007 at $8 million for just $6.98 million, including all the furniture, the Daily Mail reported. His pop star son owns a home nearby which he listed at $2.9 million, just below the $3 million he paid for the property in 2008.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied speaking with Agalarov or having any ties to the Russian lawyer allegedly meeting with Trump Jr.
