Former professional baseball player Sammy Sosa made an appearance on ESPN that left fans alarmed.
Sosa, who most notably played for the Chicago Cubs from 1992 to 2004, emerged on ESPN earlier this week and immediately lit up the internet as viewers wondered what was wrong with his appearance.

The former MLB slugger excused his lighter complexion in 2009 when fans questioned if he was sick, citing a “bleaching cream” he was using that had lightened his skin tone.

“It’s a cream that I have, that I use to soften [my skin], but has bleached me some. I’m not a racist, I live my life happily,” Sosa said on a Spanish-language television program.“What happened was that I had been using the cream for a long time and that, combined with the bright TV lights, made my face look whiter than it really is. I don’t think I look like Michael Jackson.”
