Celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred, known for filing high-powered lawsuits on behalf of her clients, now finds herself on the receiving end of a legal action.
Former Los Angeles-area TV weatherman Kyle Hunter filed a complaint against his former attorney alleging, among other things, legal malpractice.

Hunter hired Allred in 2012, alleging that he’d been passed over for promotion by local CBS affiliates KCAL and KCBS in favor of young attractive women. In his lawsuit filed Tuesday, he claims that her firm mishandled his case from the beginning, leaving him on the brink of bankruptcy.
The court dismissed his action against CBS and awarded the station an $800,000 judgment against him, according to Variety.

Hunter’s lawsuit also alleges that Allred breached an ethical duty she owed to him by negotiating a deal with CBS to produce a story on her own life, while his lawsuit was still pending.
Although Hunter signed a waiver for her pursuit of the TV bio, he now alleges that she used her celebrity status to “serve her personal pocketbook and political agenda” to the detriment of her client.
“Allred has spent her career more focused on winning press conferences than winning cases,” the complaint alleges. “In this case, Allred sandbagged her client to serve her personal pecuniary interests, her penchant for public fame, and to protect the malfeasance of her media allies. Allred needs to spend less time in front of a TV camera, and more time in an ethics library.”
After running through the legal labyrinth for years, in 2016 an appeals court dismissed Hunter’s claim, finding that he failed to offer sufficient evidence to rebut the station’s claim that he had inadequate “talent, skill or on-air presence” to succeed in the tough Los Angeles TV market.
On that issue, Hunter alleges that Allred’s firm failed to follow-up with co-workers who could have corroborated his claims.
“Allred explained to Hunter that he should feel like a ‘winner’ because the trial court ruled in his favor,” the suit states. “When Hunter responded that losing his case, career, income, healthcare, reputation, and having case law in his name that was adverse to every journalist and broadcaster in California did not make him feel like a ‘winner’, Allred offered no response.”
Allred’s firm offered this statement in response to the lawsuit.
“Mr. Hunter has been threatening to sue our law firm for approximately one year in an attempt to get our law firm to pay him money which he is not entitled to. We represented Mr. Hunter vigorously and with devotion and with the utmost integrity. We advanced his case through all the courts in California, including two attempts to have his case heard in the California Supreme Court. He has no valid claim against our law firm or its partners and we will pay him nothing for his worthless claims. We will vigorously defend ourselves and we believe that we will prevail.”
Allred is the mother to attorney Lisa Bloom, who represents comic Kathy Griffin in a claim against President Trump. and a variety of clients against Fox News executives and personalities.
Folks on social media welcomed the news for the most part.

And Hunter expressed gratitude for the support he’d received.
Thank you for all the support I have received today. It is overwhelming and I am grateful to everyone who took the time to write.

A hint that a lawsuit may be on the horizon first cropped up two months ago, when rumors surfaced that she was being investigated by the California State Bar, a claim that she denied.
She can’t deny the existence of the lawsuit.
