Former FBI director James Comey’s 86-year-old father did not take too kindly to the president of the United States reportedly calling his son a “nut job.”
In an interview with CNN, J. Brien Comey said Saturday his son was fired because President Donald Trump was “scared to death of him.”
“[James] didn’t give him 100 percent loyalty, and he demands that of people who work with him,” the elder Comey said, coming across as someone who consumes a little too much cable news. “[James] said he would give 100 percent honesty, but not loyalty.”
He was also clear about his views of Trump, who he said “runs around lying most of the day.”
“Oh my God, I think he should be impeached immediately — yesterday,” Comey stated. “He’s a very incompetent guy. He’s out of his league.”
He took that criticism a step further in an interview with NorthJersey.com.
While his son has been silent about the alleged smear, Comey, proved that the family can give as good as it gets.
“I’m convinced that he’s nuts,” the father said of Trump. “I thought he belonged in an institution. He was crazy before he became president. Now he’s really crazy.”
He revisited that theme when he acknowledged that even though he’s a Republican, he didn’t vote for Trump.
“I think the man should be in a home quite honestly, he’s crazy as a hoot,” Comey said.
