A new Harvard study confirms what any casual observer surely knows when it comes to the media; there’s no slobbering love affair with President Donald Trump as we saw with his predecessor, Barack Obama.
…but they are obsessed with Trump, nonetheless.
The analysis, by Thomas E. Patterson, professor of government and the press at the Harvard Kennedy School and Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy, shows that no less than 80 percent of the media’s coverage of Trump during his first 100 days in office was unfavorable, Fox News reported.
Cable news outlets CNN, CBS, Fox News and NBC were included in the study, as was The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.
And their coverage of President Trump is wall to wall, consuming up to 41 percent of all coverage, Fox News noted, three times as much as former presidents received.
Patterson concluded that there’s little doubt as to the motivation behind all the bad press.
“The sheer level of negative coverage gives weight to Trump’s contention, one shared by his core constituency, that the media are hellbent on destroying his presidency,” he wrote.
CNN Â appears to be leading the assault on Trump, with Eric Bolling, host of “The Fox News Specialists,” pointing out that “they’re coming in at 92, 93 percent [negative].”
Fox News contributor Bernard McGuirk called the overall coverage of the president “disgusting.”
“They’re rabid. They’re shrill. They’re in a feeding frenzy. They’re unhinged,” he said of the press.
