Before a 113-111 Western Conference Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday that saw the Warriors come back from a 25-point deficit to claim the victory, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich made sure to take time during his pre-game news conference to lay into President Trump.
Given how the game turned out, perhaps he should have spent more time laying into figuring out how to stop Steph Curry.
“Usually, things happen in the world and you go to work and you’ve got your family and you’ve got your friend and you do what you do,” Popovich told reporters. “But to this day I feel like there’s a cloud, a pall, over the whole country, in a paranoid surreal sort of way that’s got nothing to do with the Democrats losing the election.”
“It’s got to do with the way one individual conducts himself,” he continued. “It’s embarrassing. It’s dangerous to our institutions and what we all stand for and what we expect the country to be. But for this individual, he’s at a game show and everything that happens begins and ends with him, not our people or our country.”
News that ‘the crash that killed Tucker Carlson was no accident’ was no mistake … it was fake
Finally, the 68-year-old Popovich made sure to let reporters know that he knows President Trump’s motives and can read his mind.
“When he talks about those things, that’s just a ruse,” the Spurs coach said. “That’s disingenuous, cynical and fake.”
Leave it to Diamond and Silk, however, to give Popovich a frank dose of reality with a perfectly-worded Twitter post.

@DiamondandSilk @POTUS He’s a blithering idiot like most in the NBA. Only gets on soap box when cameras are around. He’s a phony tough guy.

@DiamondandSilk @POTUS In couldn’t agree more! I’m a huge fan from San Antonio but much less a Pop fan since he began shooting his mouth off about the President!

@DiamondandSilk @POTUS Spurs lost a huge fan in me when Popovich ran his stupid ass mouth before the season started. Haven’t watched a minute all season and won’t.
