Libs, ACLU flip out over Trump’s unprecedented commission to probe voter fraud – why are they afraid?

President Donald Trump signed an executive order to examine voter fraud and it has apparently frightened some liberals.

The “Presidential Commission on Election Integrity” order, signed on Thursday, will create a commission to look into allegations of both voter fraud and voter suppression.

The commission is chaired by Vice President Mike Pence and vice-chaired by Republican Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach.

The president also named Democrat secretaries of state from Maine and New Hampshire, along with Republican secretaries of state from Indiana and Ohio to make the commission bipartisan.

“This action by President Trump fulfills another promise made to the American people,” the vice president said in a statement. “We can’t take for granted the integrity of the vote.”

On Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Thursday, Kobach explained that one of the ways he believes integrity could be secured is by checking voter rolls against federal green card holders to assure non-citizens aren’t voting.

“The federal government has a database of every known alien who has a green card or a temporary visa. States have in the past asked, ‘Can we please run our voting rolls against that data base and see if any of those aliens are on our voting rolls?’” he said. “The federal government has always said, ‘no.’ Well, now we are going to be able to run that database against one or two states.”

It’s something, he told Carlson, that has “never been done before.”

But while it makes sense to assure Americans that their elections are being conducted legally, liberals were outraged at the prospect of preventing illegal aliens and felons from voting.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a Freedom of Information Act request to see proof of voter fraud.

Considering the president started the commission last week it seems to be an unreasonable request.

“The president has alleged that ‘millions of votes’ were ‘illegally’ cast ‘for the other side.’ No concrete evidence has been provided thus far to support the president’s serious indictment against American democracy. Yet the president’s allegations are the basis of an executive order to establish a ‘Commission on Election Integrity,’” it said. “This FOIA demands that the government release the factual basis and evidence supporting the president’s allegations.”

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, who has been in near tears over several decisions the president has made, was also angered.

“Putting an extremist like Mr. Kobach at the helm of this commission is akin to putting an arsonist in charge of the fire department,” he said. “President Trump has decided to waste taxpayer dollars chasing a unicorn and perpetuating the dangerous myth that widespread voter fraud exists.”

If no voter fraud exists, what are the Democrats worried about?
