A West African immigrant accused of slitting the throats of two Boston area doctors in their $1.9 million luxury condo had a criminal history.
…which raises questions about whether he should have been deported.
Bampumim Teixeira was just released from prison in April after serving nine months for two bank robberies committed in downtown Boston in 2014 and 2016, The Boston Globe reported.

Suffolk County District Attorney spokesman Jake Wark told Heavy.com he believed Teixeira was in the country legally.
“From what I gather, Teixeira is a lawful permanent resident,” Wark said. “Questions about immigration law and sanctions are best posed to federal authorities such as ICE, since state prosecutors have no jurisdiction or standing in those matters.”
The murders were especially gruesome, with Richard Field, 49, and Lina Bolanos, 38, having their hands bound and their throats slashed. Police say Teixeira allegedly left behind “a message of retribution” on the walls.
The alleged killer was confronted by police at the condo after Field texted a “plea for help” to a friend. He would be shot in the abdomen, hand and leg, with the “taxpayer relief shot” proving elusive.

Jeffrey Kuhner, host of “The Kuhner Report” on WRKO AM 680, called into question the decision not to deport Teixeira for the bank robberies.
“The one thing they stress to you when you have a green card is, you’re a ‘permanent resident,’ but it’s not permanent if you’re not law-abiding,” Kushner said on Monday’s show.
“In other words, if you break the law, if you commit a crime, your green card should be revoked,” he continued. “Then obviously if your green card is revoked, then ipso facto, you should be deported. Why wasn’t this guy deported?”
Kushner said the judge who made the decision is the person who can answer that question.
“He committed the crime. … He was convicted of it,” he said. “He was sentenced to prison. He, in fact, even had probation on top of prison. So why was the green card not rescinded? Now the question may lie with the judge.”
Teixeira was arraigned at his hospital bed in the murder of two South Boston doctors. He pleaded not guilty:
