Following Barack Obama’s election as president in 2008, his media fan base not only speculated about the Obamas having sex in the White House, but discussed how often that might occur.
Eight years later, with Republican President Donald Trump taking up residence in the Executive Mansion, the media is claiming the first couple do not even share the same bed.
…as if Americans care about the sleeping arrangements of presidents and first ladies, or what their sexual habits may or may not be.
@maggiemae802 Not sure. I’m liking the Lucy and Ricky Ricardo bed arrangement. At least HE looks happy. 🙂 pic.twitter.com/9i5BObVchd

Citing the always reliable “anonymous sources,” US Weekly is reporting that first lady Melania Trump “refuses to share a bed with Donald even on the rare occasions when they sleep in the same city.”
Another “Trump insider” claimed, “They never spend the night together — ever.”
But a third anonymous source countered that allegation by saying the first couple do sleep in the same room but, ala Lucy and Ricky, keep separate beds.
“It’s very ‘royal’ of them!” the source allegedly said.
A representative for Melania strongly denied the claims.
“It’s unfortunate that you are going to feature unnamed ‘sources’ that have provided fictional accounts,” the rep told the magazine.
The gist of the story, again citing anonymous “family sources,” is how the first lady “does not keep hidden from everyone around her how miserable she is.”
And while it was considered sacrilege, not to mention racist, to take note of the scowl that sometimes graced the face of former first lady Michelle Obama, somehow all this rumor mongering is acceptable.
And we wonder why President Trump is so focused on #FakeNews?
As for the Trumps’ sleeping arrangement, should they sleep in separate beds, this would mean that they are … normal?
According to a 2005 National Sleep Foundation survey, nearly one in four American couples sleep in separate bedrooms or beds.
A more recent study by Toronto’s Ryerson University, conducted in 2013 said 30 to 40 percent of couples sleep apart.
The “venerable” New York Times reported that even Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt — egad! — sometimes slept in separate rooms before they split, according to a former bodyguard.
