The Federalist’s Mary Katharine Ham let CNN’s Chris Cuomo have it in a discussion about the unaffordability of Obamacare.
Ham pointed out Thursday on “New Day” that mandates added onto health insurance plans makes them too expensive and dropping the federally mandated essential health benefits allows states to choose what’s best for themselves.

“That’s part of balancing this whole act, and part of trying to bring down these prices by getting rid of some of these essential elements because you sir, are paid for pediatric dental even if you don’t have children. That is a problem,” Ham said.

“Right. But state by state – There was a reason, right? Everything has a reason. And this was about preexisting conditions,” Cuomo interjected. Ham quickly suggested that this was “because liberals love federal power.”
“Look, you can be cheap about it or you can look at the facts,” Cuomo responded.
“You can be nasty about it or you can listen to me,” Ham fired back.

When Cuomo attempted to corner Ham on the reason why the regulations were deemed necessary for Obamacare, Ham shredded the argument by documenting her own experiences as a single mother of two children facing losing a plan, a 160 percent increase in her premiums and a 300 percent increase in her deductible.
“People are getting coverage that they cannot use because it is so expensive. That is something we have to deal with,” Ham concluded. “One of the ways you can deal with that is cutting some of these, quote unquote, essential health benefits because some of them are, indeed, not essential.”
After the segment, some viewers who took offense to Ham’s “disrespect” of Cuomo vented on Twitter but the CNN anchor rose up to his guest’s defense.
@ChrisCuomo Why pay the likes of Mary Katherine Ham for peddling cheap lies paid for by special interests? Why aren’t real experts on CNN?
