Taxpayers are on the hook for $174,000 a year, plus over $1 million in office expenses, for U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez‘s hard-left open border activism.
The Illinois Democrat was handcuffed by federal police Monday after refusing to leave an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement office in Chicago, according to The Hill.
(Note the biased lead-in… as if the name Gutierrez doesn’t imply he may be Hispanic.)

Gutierrez had just been at a meeting between ICE officials and pro-illegal immigrant activists when he embarked on the contrived political theater.
The lawmaker was “briefly handcuffed,” according to the article, but it doesn’t appear that he was arrested.
I was arrested, cuffed then cuffs were cut off. Waiting for further word on if/when we will be arrested. #chiresist pic.twitter.com/vKJRnz6Ebj

“They were asking about specific cases and about the general conduct of ICE and deportations,” Gutierrez’s director of communications, Doug Rivlin, said, according to The Hill.
Rivlin went on the effectively describe his boss’s actions for what they were — a temper tantrum.
“The congressman has decided that he did not get the answers he was looking for from the ICE regional director,” he said. “And he’s going to be staying inside until he gets answers, even if that means risking arrest.”
A former member of the Puerto Rican Socialist Party, a Marxist-Leninist entity now defunct, Gutierrez’s act is growing old.
He has been arrested a number of times in support of left-wing causes, to include in 2011 during a protest for the Dream Act outside the White House.
And still voters reelect the man… proving we get the government we deserve.
Later, Gutierrez tweeted a demand of ICE. It was not well recived on social media:
We want ICE to rescind tweets threatening DACA DREAMers. We need to stand up when our govt is wrong. #chiresist @CNN pic.twitter.com/UUNMVKYJeG

@KatyKory @RepGutierrez @CNN I agree. I’m starting to realize that being a Democrat is not what it used to be.
