Fox News contributor Nigel Farage tried to dispel any rumors of a conspiracy associated with his recent meeting with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Observing that Assange “has been holed up in that building for four-and-a-half years,” Farage announced “to those out there who are becoming wildly conspiratorial, it was nothing like that.”

Assange has been residing in the Ecuadorian embassy to the United Kingdom following rape claims.
Farage added that the meeting was done out of curiosity, coupled with their “shared common interest … [in] the European arrest warrant” by which anyone within Europe can be extradited to another European country without actual proof of a crime.
His meeting with Assange stirred controversy given the former Brexit leader’s enthusiastic support of President Donald Trump. Emails written by Democratic National Party officials and former Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta were released by WikiLeaks and may have contributed to the former secretary of state’s loss in the 2016 election.
Farage repeated his denial of a conspiracy attached to the meeting.
“I was’t acting as a messenger or emissary for anybody,” he said. “This was purely a personal matter.”
The former Brexit leader tied Britain’s exit from the European Union to Trump’s election.
Politicians such as the UK’s former Prime Minister Tony Blair and former President Bill Clinton “tried rot sign us up for forms of global government,” he said. “And what happened in 2016 with Brexit and Trump’s victory … is that that world just came crashing down.”
