Remember when cops brought on a sense of security and safety, before the politically correct left intervened?
Police in Northampton, Massachusetts, axed a feel-good school program that looked to improve relations with the community because undocumented children and kids of color might feel uncomfortable interacting with officers.
The program, “High-5 Friday,” was designed as a way for police to positively engage with youth in their communities, and featured a cop turning out once a week to high-five elementary school students on the way to class.

But it’s all over now because someone brought up concerns that “not all kids may feel comfortable with a police presence at the beginning of their school day,” according to the Northampton Police Department.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the NPD said they “received a lot of support on social media, we also heard a few concerns about the program.”
After attending a meeting, Police Chief Jody Kasper temporarily paused the program until a follow up meeting open to the public could be held.
“About 12-15 people attended the meeting,” the statement explained. “Concerns were shared that some kids might respond negatively to a group of uniformed officers at their school.”
“People were specifically concerned about kids of color, undocumented children, or any children who may have had negative experiences with the police.”
Chief Kasper opted to stop the High Five Friday, but remains committed to exploring alternative programs.
And there you have it on the post-Obama era of America… maybe police can send a post cards instead.
