Now it’s the Democrats’ turn.
Up until now, Republican lawmakers have received the lion’s share of loudmouthed liberal protesters converging on town hall meetings with constituents.
For example, Rep. Jason Chaffetz was met by an angry mob of organized protesters at a town hall meeting late last week, who made it for the Utah Republican to conduct business or get his message across to the voters in his district.
But now there’s every indication that moderate Democrats representing districts in blue states, as well as those up for re-election in red states, may be next — and they’re calling in independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for help, The Washington Post reported.

The protests stem from Republican lawmakers’ intention to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act — Obamacare — as well as President Donald Trump’s recent spate of executive orders.
The first indication that Democrats weren’t exempt from protest came early this month when a mob of thousands descended on the home of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who demanded that the New York Democrat do more to obstruct Trump.
He heard the message loud and clear, and has since done everything he could to stonewall the president’s cabinet choices.
But other Democrats, fearing the worst, called upon the ultra-liberal Sanders for assistance at a weekly meeting of senior Democratic members, according to Sen. Joe Manchin.
“They basically explained to Bernie, it looks like you could be the person that could calm down and make sure their energy and all this enthusiasm is directed in all the right proper channels,” the West Virginia Democrat said. “Bernie has a voice, and if [protesters] want to be active, then direct them to where the problem may be or where they anticipate a problem.”
They felt that Sanders, who refers to himself as a democratic socialist, would be just the ticket to quell the angry passions of liberal mobs.
And that angry mob isn’t just provoked by a lawmaker’s voting record. Who he agrees to meet can even ignite the crowd’s anger. Number-one on that particular hit parade is U.S. Circuit Court Judge Neil Gorsuch, Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, who is being introduced to lawmakers by former Sen. Kelly Ayotte.
On Tuesday, a group of protesters in Maryland delivered “valentines” to the office of Sen. Benjamin Cardin, D-Maryland, who is up for reelection in 2018, with questions about why he was agreeing to meet wit Gorsuch, after many Republicans refused to meet with blocked Obama nominee Merrick Garland. They handed out candy hearts with slogans like “Filibuster Me” and “Be My Accountable Democrat,” and a sign that read “Roses are red, violets are blue, supporting Trump’s cabinet makes you guilty too.”
Although Schumer applauded the recent resurgence of activism from progressives, he cautioned them that occasionally their votes were attributable to conscience or constituency.
“There should not be any animus to the people who are voting the other way because their states or conscience dictates it,” he said. “And that’s what I’ve tried to make clear to our caucus.”

Several people wondered why the Democrats would seek help from Sanders, who is officially an independent although he ran for president as a Democrat.
