Ashley Graham hits back over controversial cover photo: ‘I chose to pose like that’

Vogue magazine came under fire for its hypocritical March cover celebrating diversity when some accused the magazine of trying to make Ashley Graham, the one plus size model in the photo, appear thinner.

In the photo featuring models of different ethnic backgrounds, skin tones and body types, Graham’s hand rests on her thigh, while the other models were holding on to each other’s waists.

“I still don’t get why they made you cover your leg!” a social media user said in the comment section after Graham posted the image on Instagram. “And you are the only one posing like that.”

But Graham responded, effectively saying the criticism is much ado about nothing.

“I chose to pose like that,” the model insisted. “No one told me to do anything.”

Ironically, Graham advocated for plus-size women in the article.

“Sixty-seven percent of the women in America wear a size 14 or larger… Maybe you could ignore those consumers before, but now, thanks to social media, they’re making their voices heard… What they want is to be visible.”

With the assist of a well-place hand…
