Katie Rich, one of four exclusive writers for Saturday Night Live’s popular “Weekend Update” segment, bared her true colors Friday with a tasteless tweet about Barron Trump, son of the new president.
In it, she wrote that Barron would be “the country’s first homeschool shooter.” Since the internet is forever, several screenshots made her extremely tacky decision impossible to hide.
After a constant barrage of criticism, the tweet was deleted three hours later and her account was set to private. However, the damage had already been done.
Many Twitter users were sharply critical, even calling the writer “scum.”
Did you really take a jab at a 10 year-old boy @katiemaryrich? Deleting the tweet is not good enough. @nbcsnl must take notice. #coward

Fire her. And her Twitter is "protected" unlike @realDonaldTrump's child. @katiemaryrich https://t.co/L2VaWT5fuk

Not watching @nbcsnl again until @katiemaryrich has been fired. Talk about "deplorable."

Ironically, Barron isn’t even home-schooled. In fact, the 10-year-old will will be staying in New York with his mother while he finishes the year at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School.
