Obama exits with a nod to Rush Limbaugh and he couldn’t have paid him a higher compliment

President Obama still can’t seem to take responsibility for failing to accomplish some of what he set out to do eight years ago.

Instead, he assigned part of the blame to Rush Limbaugh. An honor the Conservative King is likely to relish.

In a “Dateline NBC” broadcast on Friday, the outgoing president invoked both the conservative radio show host and Fox News as excuses for his inability to work with Republicans to achieve what he desired during his two terms in office.

“Well what is true is the ability of Republican leaders to rile up their base, helped along by folks like Rush Limbaugh, some commentators on Fox News I think created an environment in which Republican voters would punish Republicans for cooperating with me,” Obama told host NBC Lester Holt. “That hothouse of back-and-forth argument and really sharp partisanship I think has been harmful to the country,”

The decision by Republicans not to work with Obama, he believes, was a “tactical” one meant to hurt him.

“Do you have a vindictive streak?” Holt asked Obama.

“What you see is sort of what you get with me,” the president replied, explaining that he would rather focus on things that need to be done rather than on “whatever grudges that have developed.”

Though he “can curse like a sailor behind closed doors,” Obama added that he tries “not to personalize politics that much.”
