Donald Trump takes a bold stand in defense of Israel, blasts UN draft resolution coming up for vote

Just in case Donald Trump’s choice of ambassador to Israel didn’t adequately convey the pro-Israeli stance his administration will take, the message he gave to the United Nations Thursday left no doubt.

The U.N. Security Council is about to vote on a draft resolution that would demand that Israel “immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.”

The resolution was circulated by Egypt on Wednesday, and the Security Council is scheduled to vote on it Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

The president-elect observed that if Israel were to comply with the terms of the resolution, the Jewish state’s own security would be adversely impacted and it should therefore be vetoed.

His appraisal fell in line with that of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who tweeted:

Trump’s choice of David Friedman for U.S. ambassador to Israel raised the eyebrows — if not the ire — of liberal media and politicians. The president-elects appraisal of the U.N. Security Council resolution will likely blow a few liberal gaskets — and they were long overdue for a blowing.
