Lock her up!
With that battle cry at the forefront, longtime Donald Trump ally Roger Stone is promoting a petition requesting that the president-elect prosecute his Democratic rival for the White House — Hillary Clinton.
Stone tweeted:
No way should @HillaryClinton avoid prosecution #LockHerUp Sign our petition to the @realDonaldTrump Administration https://t.co/5vZ9j7OUog
— Roger Stone (@RogerJStoneJr) December 19, 2016
The petition itself is addressed to both Trump and his pick for attorney General — Sen. Jeff Sessions, a Republican from Alabama and an early and loyal Trump supporter.
“Either we are a nation of laws or we are a ‘banana republic’ led by criminals. After the Watergate scandal, the mainstream media told us repeatedly that ‘no person is above the law,’” Stone’s petition. which is posted to his website Stone Cold Truth reads.
“It is premature for the Trump administration to decide whether Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton should be prosecuted. In truth, the American people do not yet have a full cataloging of their many crimes,” the petition continues.
“We respectfully urge President-elect Donald Trump and Attorney General-designate Jeff Sessions to gather all appropriate evidence and submit it to the grand jury to make the potential decision about the Clintons’ potential indictment.”
The petition concludes by listing five areas of possible wrongdoing that Stones believes should be investigated:
- Obstruction of justice. If any average citizen lied to investigative officials, failed to turn over evidence, provided only selective evidence, they would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. If any average military personnel with even the lightest of Security Clearance was in breach as Clinton clearly was, they would be prosecuted. Why are our officials not held accountable for their actions?
- Spoliation of evidence. If any average citizen wiped the hard drive after requests from authorities to turn it over, they would be prosecuted. Why are our officials not held accountable for their actions?
- Violation of Federal Records Act (perhaps willful). Our officials agree to be accountable when they hold office. They also agree to comply with the Federal Records Act. Why are our officials not held accountable for their actions?
- Violation of Espionage Act (perhaps willful). Our officials with Security Clearances agree to hold sensitive information vital to our country’s security with strict restrictions. Ignoring these restrictions should be prosecuted in full, and not doing so is treason against every American. Why are our officials not held accountable for their actions?
- The Clinton Foundation ties to weapons deals should also be thoroughly investigated.
Trump repeatedly vowed to appoint a special prosecutor to look into alleged crimes committed by while she served as secretary of state, and reiterated that promise during the second presidential debate.
Clinton said at the October 9th event that it was “awfully good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the laws in this country.”
“Because you’d be in jail,” Trump shot back.
When President Richard M. Nixon resigned his office in 1974 as a result of the Watergate scandal, his successor, President Gerald R. Ford, gave his predecessor a full and unconditional pardon for any crimes he might have committed against the United States while president.
Democrats and liberal media outlets who demanded their pound of flesh were outraged at the time, calling it a “corrupt bargain.”
