Jerry Falwell Jr. says Trump offered him this top job; here’s why he turned it down . . .

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr., says the selection of charter school advocate Betsy DeVos to head up the Department of Education was a fallback choice for President-elect Donald Trump.

…because Falwell says he was first offered the position.

Adding to the remarkable aspect of the assertion, Falwell said he turned Trump down.

The Associated Press said Saturday that Falwell told them Trump offered him the job during a meeting last week in New York, but that he turned it down for personal reasons.

And in the process, Falwell offered a glimpse of Trump’s confidence of being a two-term president — he told the AP that Trump wanted a four-to-six-year commitment.

Falwell, who enthusiastically endorsed Trump in January, said he couldn’t leave Liberty for more than two years to work at a Cabinet-level job and didn’t want to move his family, which includes a 16-year-old daughter.

Welcome aboard, DeVos!
