Immigration patriots are thrilled about this hard-liner Trump just tapped to join his team

While President-elect Donald Trump has been accused in recent days of softening his position on some issues, there’s one in which he remains firm and steadfast — illegal immigration.

And a key element of his immigration policy is his commitment to build a wall at the U.S.-Mexican border.

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who is one of the nation’s leading immigration hardliners, observed that this is a clear departure from President Obama’s open borders policy.

“I’m a member of the immigration policy transition team, and there’s going to be a lot to do there, in part because Mr. Trump and Mr. Obama are diametrical opposites when it comes to immigration policy, so there will be a lot of changes,” Kobach told Wichita TV station KWCH.

The isn’t Kobach’s first rodeo when it comes to advising national leaders on the subject. He also served as former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s immigration adviser during his 2012 presidential bid. At that time he promoted creating an environment that would force illegal immigrants to leave of their own accord.

“We are constantly told that the only two options are massive roundups [of illegal immigrants] or an amnesty,” he told The Washington Post in 2012. “But attrition through enforcement is the third way,” Kobach said in 2012. “Change the individual decisions of particular illegal aliens, and they will decide to leave the country.”

On the issue of the border wall, Kobath and Trump remain firm.

“There’s no question the wall is going to get built,” Kobach told KWCH. “The only question is how quickly will it get done and who pays for it.”
