CEO tries backpedaling after word gets out he threatened Trump-supporting employees

If you want to keep your job, you’d better agree politically…

The CEO of Grubhub, an online food delivery service, is so irrationally incensed over the results of Tuesday’s presidential election that he’s taking it out on his non-likeminded employees.

He sent out a memo Wednesday afternoon saying, in essence, that anyone within his organization that agrees with President-elect Donald Trump should pack their bags.

“If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here,” wrote Matt Maloney, GrubHub co-founder and CEO, according to Fox News. “We do not tolerate hateful attitudes on our team.”

Fox News contributor Harlan Hill tweeted:

The fact that the memo soon made it into the public eye indicated that he also didn’t mind alienating half of his customer base.

“I absolutely reject the nationalist, anti-immigrant and hateful politics of Donald Trump and will work to shield our community from this movement as best as I can,” Maloney wrote in the emailed memo under the subject line, “So…that happened…what’s next?”

Fox News reported the full contents of the memo.

After the email became public, Maloney initially doubled down on its message.

“I want to reaffirm to anyone on our team that is scared or feels personally exposed, that I and everyone else here at Grubhub will fight for your dignity and your right to make a better life for yourself and your family here in the United States.”

Fox News’ Judge Jeanine, weighed in and said Maloney was setting himself up for a lawsuit.

And with the memo’s publication, Grubhub’s customers reacted by hitting the company where it hurt — in it’s sales figures. There are, after all, more online food delivery services out there that would love more customers.

Oops. And then there was this assessment.

Grubhub attempted to backpedal, claiming that the company stood for, first and foremost, tolerance. Really?

Yeah, right. The company’s tolerant, as long as you vote the way we tell you. And no one was buying that baloney — even non-Trump supporters.

And that tweet — that he wants his account deleted — prompted this side-splitting reply:

Maloney, like liberals the world over, let his emotions get into the way of the number-one goal of any business — to make a profit.
