Tim Tebow says he’s unsure about a political future; should people stop asking him?

Tim Tebow is not ruling out a political future to add to his varied list of accomplishments, but he certainly isn’t jumping at it.

Football player, author and now baseball player, Tebow told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly on “The Kelly File” that politics “could be something in my future one day.”

The former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback was invited to speak at the Republican National Convention in July, but turned down the invitation.

“My goal has always been to make a difference in the biggest way possible,” he told Kelly, “to be able to change as many lives as possible, to be able to encourage as many lives as possible and right now I don’t feel like that’s in politics.”

“But if, one day, I feel like that’s where I’m called to go, then that’s what I’ll do. I just don’t know if that’s the right road for me yet,” he added.

After being awarded the Heisman as college football’s best player in 2007 and  scoring the 2008 national championship with the University of Florida Gators as well as a successful stint with the Denver Broncos, Tebow has now turned back to baseball.

Signing a contract with the New York Mets, he noted that he has gone back to one of his first passions.

“Baseball was always with me and it was something that I’ve been thinking about for a couple of years and even had to convince some people on my own team that I could do it,” Tebow said. “But now I’m out pursuing it and loving it and having so much fun.”

Tebow also talked about his new book “Shaken: Discovering Your true Identity in the Midst of Life’s Storms,” and how he has dealt with failures and challenges in his life-like being released from four NFL teams in five years.

“I’ve been blessed to go through some highs, but going through the lows is something I’m honestly so thankful for too,” he said. “Because I feel like there’re so many people that life hits them right in the face and they have to go through a lot of lows and it really gives me the opportunity to relate to a lot of people.”
