‘Lord, have mercy’: If you thought Team Hillary wasn’t worried about Joe Biden running, you thought wrong

Well that’s awkward.

Leaked emails from Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta showed there was worry from the team about Vice President Joe Biden stepping into the election race.

In a series of emails from September 2015, Podesta communicated with Center for American Progress President Neera Tanden and Clinton communications director Jennifer Palmieri about Biden announcing that he was running.

“Heard he is now telling union Presidents he is running,” Podesta wrote in the email with the subject line “Re: My prediction.”

Palmieri’s simple response: “Lord, have mercy.”

Clearly there was worry about the possibility of a Biden run, signaling perhaps that there would have been more support for the 73 year-old former senator from Delaware than for Clinton during the primaries.

There was enough worry to spark a few emails, apparently.

Might be a bit awkward on the campaign trail with the vice president set to be stumping for Clinton this week.
