It’s all theatre to the Clinton campaign.
Nothing is left to chance. The players are selected, the stage is set, the actors take their mark and recite their lines.
This was made clear with the latest WikiLeaks document dump where it was disclosed that gun control advocates were planted at a New Hampshire town hall.
The event took place October 5, 2015, four days after a mass shooting at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College campus — and Clinton staffers were eager that gun control be addressed at the town hall while the issue was hot.
In an email thread with the subject, “DRAFT: TPs [talking points] on guns for tomorrow in NH,” Clinton speechwriter Megan Rooney advised other staffers that although gun control wouldn’t be the sole topic at the Man-hater event, it would be addressed.
Here are short TPs about guns for the NH community college town hall tomorrow. This is not a town hall exclusively about gun violence — it’s just a regular town hall.

But the person who will introduce [Clinton] will tell a story about gun violence in her life, and there will be people in the audience from gun violence orgs.
The person chosen was Erin Kerwin, and the proposed talking points begin, “Too many families have stories like Erin’s – or worse.”
True to form, New Hampshire state Sen. Senator Lou D’Allesandro described Clinton as “a woman who’s not afraid to talk about guns, and who’s not afraid to address the issue head-on.”
He then brought up the Oregon tragedy, without mentioning that Umpqua Community College was a gun-free zone, before introducing Kerwin, who in turn introduced the candidate.
So Clinton began the event talking gun control. The Manchester Union Leader reported:
She proposed comprehensive background checks, repealing the law that grants immunity to gun makers facing lawsuits, a ban on assault weapons, tightening gun show and Internet sales, and keeping guns from domestic abusers and people with serious mental health problems.
None of Clinton’s proposals would have prevented the Oregon shooting. The Umpqua Community College gunman passed a federal background check.
One thing Clinton did not mention, however, was her professed admiration for Australia’s gun confiscation, saying that it’s “worth looking at.”
