Surprise – or not.
It seems President Obama knew all along that Hillary Clinton was using a private server and email address during her tenure as secretary of state even though he claimed otherwise.
New emails released by WikiLeaks revealed that Obama lied about his secret communications with Clinton when he told CBS’ Bill Plante on March 7, 2015 that he found out about her private account and server “the same time everybody else learned it through news reports.”

Clinton aide Philippe Reines flagged the president’s troubling response in a 2015 email exchange with other top Clinton aides and White House communications director Jennifer Palmieri.

In the email, with the subject line “Obama Says He Didn’t Know Hillary Clinton Was Using Private Email Address — NYTimes.com,” Reines reacted to a New York Times story that referred to the CBS interview.
“One of us should connect with the WH just so they know that the email will show his statement to not make sense,” Reines wrote. “It’s not unreasonable to assume that Josh [Earnest] is going to get asked how this was possible, and he should have the factset.”
Palmieri responded that it was “standard practice” at the White House not to confirm anything about the president’s email.
“They know POTUS and HRC emailed. Josh has been asked about that. Standard practice is not to confirm anything about his email, so his answer to press was that he would not comment/confirm,” she wrote.

“Ok. Sounds like people are putting words into his mouth,” Reines replied.

The latest WikiLeaks email release appears to be more evidence that Obama knew about Clinton’s use of the private server and email account. The president even used a pseudonym in his communications with the former secretary of state.
