In what might come as a shock to many, Rasmussen Reports has GOP nominee Donald Trump back in the lead in the 2016 presidential election.
“The full results from Sunday night’s debate are in, and Donald Trump has come from behind to take the lead over Hillary Clinton,” the public opinion polling company reported Thursday morning.
The latest Rasmussen Reports White House Watch national telephone and online survey shows Trump with 43% support among Likely U.S. Voters to Clinton’s 41%. Yesterday, Clinton still held a four-point 43% to 39% lead over Trump, but that was down from five points on Tuesday and her biggest lead ever of seven points on Monday.
The survey results cover the three nights following Trump’s successful performance in Sunday’s debate.
Rasmussen’s outcome is shocking in that The Hill reported Wednesday that Trump is trailing Democratic rival Clinton “in every major national poll.”
In addition, RealClearPolitics shows Clinton with an average margin of 6.2 points over Trump, 4.6 points in a four-way race.
The Rasmussen survey included Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, who is now at six percent support, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who is at two percent.
With less than four weeks to go until Election Day, Rasmussen also showed that most likely voters have made up their minds, with only four percent remaining undecided.
