Could Pennsylvania, a major battleground state with 20 electoral votes at stake, swing Republican?
It could be, according to recent reports.
Nearly 100,000 Democrats — 97,607 — switched sides since the beginning of 2016 and are now playing for the other team, CBS News Pittsburgh reported.
In comparison, 38,020 Republicans filed the paperwork so that they can call themselves Democrats.
But that’s not the half of it. The Pennsylvania Republican Party announced that more than 240,000 new voters have joined the ranks of the party of Lincoln since November of last year.
That figure is nearly double the number of GOP registrations in recent previous presidential election years
“Enthusiasm is clearly on the side of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania this year,” Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason said. “Republicans are making historic gains in voter registration in the Keystone State. As the last-minute registrations are processed, we’re confident we will see our Party grow even larger.”
As one person observed, the switch from Democratic to Republican gives the GOP a net double-whammy:

So while the GOP is attracting voters, the Democratic Party is attracting … flies?

David Wasserman, the U.S. House editor for the highly respected Cook Political Report, reasoned in May that “in 2016, Pennsylvania could be the keystone of the Electoral College and the ultimate arbiter of whether Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”
His analysis concluded that “Pennsylvania has leapfrogged Colorado and Virginia as the next most winnable state for Republicans. In fact, it may be on pace to claim sole “tipping point” status.”
While Wasserman made his analysis long prior to the released audio of the sexually charged and now infamous “Access Hollywood” interview, Rasmussen released a shock poll Thursday showing Trump has surged two points ahead of Clinton since that time.
