Former Miss Universe Alicia Machado lashed back against Donald Trump for allegedly shaming her with insulting comments about her weight.
Machado, who won the Miss Universe pageant in 1996, spoke out Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “The Kelly File” about her experiences with the Republican nominee in order to “open a few eyes.”
Machado’s name was thrust in the spotlight during Monday’s presidential debate when Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton cited her claim that Trump had called her “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping” as an example of his treatment of women.
The Venezuela-born Machado, who recently became a U.S. citizen, is a vocal Clinton supporter and told host Megyn Kelly that she is sharing her story for her Latino community.
The former beauty queen did not directly answer Kelly’s question about whether anyone else had heard Trump say those things about her. Trump, himself, challenged Clinton during the debate over where she heard that he had used the words.
Machado had claimed that her treatment by Trump, who owned the Miss Universe company from 1996 to 2015, led to eating disorders. Kelly challenged her, however, with an old interview where she stated she suffered from bulimia and anorexia before the pageant.
“No, I’m sorry but that was not true,” Machado responded, adding that the pageant may have manipulated the information at the time.
“I’m here because I know this person, and he’s not a good person” she told Kelly, speaking about Trump. “The point is, no more abuse for us. No more abuse for the girls.”
While Machado makes the rounds stumping for Clinton and trashing Trump, some skeletons from her own closet have surfaced recently that portray a startling picture, including a murder threat, of the former pageant queen.
