Though House Democrats got a chance to grill FBI Director James Comey about Hillary Clinton and her email scandal, it seems they were more interested in probing into Donald Trump’s activities.
At a House Oversight Committee hearing on Wednesday, Rep. John Conyers focused Comey’s testimony on Donald Trump and his “extensive connections to the Russian government.”
The Michigan Democrat referred to a letter to Comey that addressed “a number of troubling reports” that suggested a conflict of interest or even “evidence of a crime.”
“Is the FBI investigating the activities of Mr. Trump or any advisor to the Trump campaign with respect to any line of communication between the campaign and the Russian government? Conyers asked Comey.
“I can’t say, sir,” Comey replied. “We don’t confirm or deny investigations.”
Not only did that not answer the question, none of the exchange even came close to grilling Comey about the Justice Department’s decision not to prosecute Clinton for using private email servers to send and receive classified information.
Watch the exchange in the video clip below.
