Pat Sajak has had just about enough of fabulously wealthy players in the National Football League opting to show disrespect for the country that delivered them to the promised land.
With other players in the league now taking a knee with Colin Kaepernick, the San Francisco 49ers’ $126 million back-up quarterback, during the playing of the national anthem, the Wheel of Fortune host stated that he is no longer standing for the product being put out by the NFL.
In a new theme song this year, “Oh Sunday Night,” set to the music of Carrie Underwood’s 2014 hit duet with Miranda Lambert, “Somethin’ Bad,” the recording artist calls on fans to “stand up” for Sunday Night Football, but Sajak says no thank you:

It took NFL commissioner Roger Goodell almost two weeks to respond to Kaepernick declaring, “I’m not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
And when Goodell finally did weigh in, he tiptoed around an actual rebuke, sounding more like a politician pandering for the black vote — 68 percent of the players in the NFL are black. Goodell said “we believe very strongly in patriotism in the NFL,” but that was AFTER affirming support for players “when they want to see change in society.”
“We have to choose respectful ways of doing that so that we can achieve the outcomes we ultimately want and do it with the values and ideals that make our country great,” he added.
In light of the commissioner’s milquetoast response, more people are talking about boycotting the NFL.
Here’s a sampling of responses to Sajak’s comment from Twitter:
