It almost seems like Hillary Clinton doesn’t want the support of voters in coal country.
Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, mocked people from West Virginia and Kentucky in a speech on Friday, lamenting the “coal people” who are supporting Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“We all know how [Hillary’s] opponent has done well down in West Virginia and eastern Kentucky,” Clinton told the crowd at the Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum. “The coal people don’t like any of us [Democrats] anymore.”
“They all voted for me. I won twice, and they did well,” he added. “They blame the president when the sun doesn’t come up in the morning now.”
Earlier this year, Hillary Clinton vowed to “put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business” if she is elected president. Many registered Democrats in coal country vowed to switch parties and vote for Trump following the Democratic nominee’s comments.
Under the Democratic Obama administration, tens of thousands of mining and coal industry jobs were lost due to federal regulations.
Bill Clinton probably did not help the Democrats’ cause with his speech.
