After decades of fighting against the segregation of people based on skin colorn one California university is going back in time.
California State University Los Angeles now offers segregated housing for black students to fight microaggressions” and “racially insensitive remarks,” the College Fix reported.
In other words, they are telling black students they are separating them for their own good.
The university will offer “housing space delegated for Black students” after a request from the school’s Black Student Union.
“[It] would provide a cheaper alternative housing solution for Black students. This space would also serve as a safe space for Black CSLA students to congregate, connect, and learn from each other,” the union wrote in its demand letter.
The union also demanded a $30 million dollar scholarship endowment for black students only, a cultural competency course for both students and faculty and new anti-discrimination policy.
Because nothing says equality and promotes unity like special scholarships and policies for one particular group.
The new Halisi Scholars Black Living-Learning Community “focuses on academic excellence and learning experiences that are inclusive and non-discriminatory,” according to a statement from Cal State LA spokesman Robert Lopez.
Why would anyone think a facility known as the Black Living-Learning Community would be discriminatory?
CSLA is the fourth school to offer racially segregated housing as it followed UConn, UC Davis and Berkeley who also offer such amenities.
Both the the Black Student Union and the university declined the College Fix’s requests to comment on the story.
