ABC reports Kaepernick jersey sales skyrocket as he embraces his new hero status – did they get it wrong?

As expected in such a divided country, the news that NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick refused to stand during the playing of the national anthem before during a preseason game was met with a lot of support from liberal Americans.

Right on cue, ABC News was quick to report Sunday that the player’s jersey sales “have skyrocketed.”

And while the network described this development as “Kaepernick’s growing marketability,” there was another growing trend seen in response to the controversy — burning the now-back up $126 million San Francisco 49ers quarterback’s jersey. In fact, one video alone set the internet ablaze, drawing millions of views.

Kaepernick created the firestorm when he said he’s “not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

And while Kaepernick is going to be doing a lot more sitting now that he lost his starting job — blame it on whitey — his jersey is now fifth overall among NFL jersey sales. The mixed-race player is guaranteed $11.9 million in salary, whether he takes a single snap this year.

It also seems that Kaepernick is embracing his newfound hero status among those who’ve traditionally hated on America… and GOP nominee Donald Trump.

ABC News reported:

Kaepernick was scheduled to speak at Third Baptist Church in San Francisco today in front of a largely black congregation that included members of the NAACP, but he cancelled, citing scheduling concerns.

The other speakers at Third Baptist church today addressed Kaepernick’s stance with words of support, and voiced criticism over the police, and Donald Trump and his supporters, who one woman called “bigots.”

Considering the NFL season is about to start and Kaepernick was booted to a back-up role, 49ers fans who spend their hard-earned cash in support of the team — which includes paying his exorbitant salary — would probably like to see the player a little more focused on giving them a return on their investment.

…other than riding the pine and disrespecting the country that allows him to live like a prince.
