Hillary Clinton’s latest poll numbers have Democratic voters panicking

In the numbers race for the presidential election, Republican nominee Donald Trump has just bypassed his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.

Trump now has 40 percent support to Clinton’s 39 percent in the latest Rasmussen Reports poll which was released Thursday. This is a 3-point drop for Clinton who, in last week’s edition of the same poll, was ahead by 4 points, 42 percent to 38 percent.

The latest poll also shows Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson with 7 percent, and Green Party nominee Jill Stein with 3 percent.

Clinton’s high of 44 percent in early August just after the Democratic National Convention has disappeared, leaving her with the lowest level of support since the middle of July.

Trump’s one-point lead is an indication of how close the race is, according to the survey of 1,000 Likely Voters which was conducted August 29-30.

Though Clinton has had a national lead in nearly all recent polls, the RealClearPolitics average of polls shows how the race has tightened recently. That average shows Clinton leading Trump by 4.6 points nationally.

Though her lead over Trump may be shrinking, there is one consolation for Clinton.

She has reached a new high in unpopularity according to an  ABC/Washington Post poll that showed 56 percent of those surveyed viewed her unfavorably.
