You know, governor, it’s not necessary to help the liberal media quite so much.
Maine Governor Paul LePage is infamous for his no-nonsense, straightforward style that throws caution, political correctness and just about everything else to the wind, and while an anger management course might do him some good, the Republican governor has surely set off a firestorm after referring to black and Hispanic people as “the enemy.”
LePage was speaking proverbially, of course, not that its going to matter much.

“Look, a bad guy is a bad guy, I don’t care what color it is,” LePage says in the video. “When you go to war, if you know the enemy, the enemy dresses in red and you dress in blue, you shoot at red, don’t you? You shoot at the enemy.”
It’s worth noting that LePage is talking about drug dealers, an issue he has passionately taken on in his state.
“You try to identify the enemy,” he continued. “And the enemy right now, the overwhelming majority right now coming in are people of color or people of Hispanic origin. I can’t help that. I just can’t help it. Those are the facts.”
The governor was responding to criticism he has received over racially tinged comments about drug use and a colorful voicemail he left a Democrat state legislator — LePage was led to believe by a reporter that Rep. Drew Gattine called him a racist.
“I would like to talk to you about your comments about my being a racist, you c*cksucker,” LePage said in a message to the lawmaker. “I want to talk to you. I want you to prove that I’m a racist.”
Right or wrong, when your message is so profane that the focus is jolted from the issue to the person behind the message, you’re not helping matters. And it doesn’t take much imagination to think the media in Maine must be licking their chops at the opportunity to provoke the next LePage rant.
Stay tuned because this story is far from over.
