Jerry Falwell Jr. pens motivational op-ed comparing Donald Trump to Winston Churchill

Jerry Falwell Jr. wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post on Thursday where he compared Donald Trump to Winston Churchill and said he is what America needs now.

“We are at a crossroads where our first priority must be saving our nation. We need a leader with qualities that resemble those of Winston Churchill, and I believe that leader is Donald Trump,” Falwell, who is the president of Liberty University, wrote.

He said Trump is the right candidate because “weak establishment Republicans” blew their chance at the White House in 2008 with Sen. John McCain and in 2012 with Gov. Mitt Romney. But Trump “is not another establishment Republican,” he argued.

Falwell blasted the media for creating a “simply false” image of Trump and took aim at Republicans who have not gotten behind their party’s candidate.

“Republicans such as Sen. Susan Collins (Maine) need to stop whining about Trump’s temperament and start focusing on Clinton’s corruption,” he wrote.

“Despite our differences, Americans from all walks of life must unite behind Trump and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence or suffer dire consequences,” Falwell warned.
