Kim Rhode made sports history when she became the first Olympian of any country to medal in six consecutive Summer games.
Wow! But chances are you’d never heard of her or her amazing feat, and the reason is simple: Her sport is skeet shooting, and the media pretty much ignores anything having to do with guns.

But she wasn’t ignored by Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” Thursday.
“I’m kind of just waiting to wake up — it’s been incredible. I started with my first Olympics at 16 and now I’m 37,” Rhode told the gang.
“Kim, you made history! It’s awesome!” enthused co-host Ainsley Earhardt. “All the networks should be talking about you!”
She asked Rhode why there seemed to be a media blackout on her accomplishment.
“We definitely have this stigmatism that’s attached to our sport,” she said. “We’re just kind of hopeful that one sponsor will step up to the plate that’s outside our industry.”
She listed Winchester, Beretta and Cabela’s as traditional shooting-sports sponsors.
Co-host Steve Doocy brought up Rhode’s support of the Second Amendment as being another factor in the media’s silence.
“I’m very proud of being a Second Amendment supporter. We are fighting for the right to keep our guns and enjoy the sport I enjoy every day,” she said after noting that California Gov. Jerry Brown had recently signed into law six new gun control measures.
But all-in-all, this tweet may say it best.
